Programming N’ Pizza is a crowd-learning initiative led by the Dartmouth Library and Research Computing. It is an opportunity for the entire Dartmouth community to share, teach and learn programming skills in a casual, fun environment, where beginners and more advanced users can help each other. Each PNP participant can both help and be helped and learn and teach skills that they want to share or pick up. You may have specific questions you’d like to ask from another participant, or just get started on some new programming and computational skills.
Programming languages (non-exhaustive list)
R, Python, Perl, JavaScript / HTML5, Java, C, C++, C#, LaTeX, SQL / Databases, Matlab, Maple, Mathematica, PHP, HTML, Stata, SAS, SPSS, Bash/Linux, etc…
All are welcome!

How it works
- Show up. No registration is needed.
- Bring your own laptop (Mac/Win/Linux).
- Pick up a button with the programming language you can help with. Make a name tag.
- Grab a slice of pizza and a soft drink (first come, first served)
- Start mingling! If you need help with a specific problem, have a question, or just want to learn about a skill, ask a person who has the right button.
- If you can’t find anyone, be patient, hang out, and let’s hope someone with the right expertise shows up.
- We’ll have some problem sets and tutorials you can work on too.
- Have another piece of pizza or maybe a cookie 🙂
- Before you leave, return the buttons you borrowed and fill out a quick survey to help us to improve for next time
