Application Rehabilitation

Research software often outlasts the people who built it. When the original developer moves on, the code doesn’t have to move on with them.

1

We review what's there

We'll dig into the existing codebase to understand what it does, how it's built, and what shape it's in. You don't need to provide documentation or explain the internals — that's our job to figure out.

2

We prioritize together

Once we know what we're working with, we'll walk you through the options: what it would take to get it running again, what should be modernized, and what can be left alone. You'll help decide what matters most.

3

You get a tool you can rely on again

The result is software that works, runs on current infrastructure, and is documented well enough that it won't end up abandoned again. If you need new features down the road, the codebase will be ready for them.

Sometimes starting over is the right call. Not every application is worth rehabilitating. Part of our assessment is giving you an honest recommendation — if rebuilding from scratch would serve you better, we'll say so.
