Create your Unity User  

  • Browse to https://unity.dartmouth.edu/
  • On the left, click Login / Request Account
  • Search for “Dartmouth College” in the Search For Organization dialog or click on Select Organization From a List Instead and select Dartmouth College; click Continue
  • Verify the information and then click Register

After you register a Unity account, you will be “unqualified”, which means you will not have access to any systems. To become qualified, you must create or join a PI group.

Join the General Dartmouth PI Group  

  • Above the Request to Join a PI Group button, click Terms of Service and read it
  • Then check the box and Request to Join a PI Group button
  • On the My Principal Investigators click the + button
  • Search for dartmouth and select pi_general_dartmouth_edu
  • Check that you have read the Terms of Service and click Send Request

Configure SSH Connection  

How you connect to Unity will depend on your operating system. Unity has detailed SSH configuration instructions located here: https://docs.unityhpc.org/documentation/connecting/ssh/ . If you find that you require any additional assistance, please contact research.computing@dartmouth.edu .

Accessing a specific login node (there are 4)  

At times, you may want to login to a specific node, for example if you left a screen session running. Once logged in, simply SSH to the login node you want, e.g.: ssh login1, ssh login2, etc.

Storage  

As a free user, you will have 100GB of storage space in your home directory; you are not entitled to storage space in the general Dartmouth PI /work directory. If you temporarily need more than 100GB of space, you may stage your work in /scratch and copy it back to Dartmouth storage when the job is over. If you need more permanent storage, please contact research.computing@dartmouth.edu to discuss becoming a paid user, which will gain you access to your own 1TB /work directory and, potentially /project storage space.
