Overview

You can create and manage your own custom, reusable prompts in Dartmouth Chat using Workspace. Using Workspace prompts, you can streamline your interactions with models by saving frequently used prompts and accessing them through “slash” commands.

Using this tool, users will be prompted to provide specific information which will be evaluated based on provided instructions.

Adding a Custom Prompt

To add a new custom prompt:

  • Navigate to the Workspace Prmpts area (Choose “Workspace” from the left sidebar and select “Prompts”)
  • Click the “+” sign to add a new prompt

From the resulting screen, enter a command and the prompt content. Your prompt content should identify the named variables you will be collecting from the user. As guided by the application, variable names should be enclosed in brackets - e.g., {{variable}}.

You can further set the level of Access to your custom prompt. By default, the visibility of your prompt is set as Private. If you subsequently select a Group or Groups, you can set up Read/Write permissions by group to share and/or manage your prompt collaboratively.

Using your Custom Prompt

Once you have set up your prompt, you can manage it from Workspace.

You can actively use it from any prompt by typing “/” into the model prompt. This will provide a list of custom prompts from which you can choose. This will in turn direct the user’s input.
