How do I use the Dartmouth Chat API?

What’s an API?   What do I need to get started?   How does it work?

What’s an API?

An API is an Application Programming Interface that allows you to build applications that can securely communicate and exchange data. By accessing the Dartmouth Chat API, you can build new and different interfaces to access and utilize the models provided through Dartmouth Chat.

What do I need to get started?

Dartmouth Chat API

There is a thorough tutorial available to show you how to use the API. It includes instructions for retrieving your API key as well as instructions and example code for making calls to the API.

How does it work?

Once you have set up your API key, you can then make programmatic calls to Dartmouth Chat, specifying the model you wish to use as well as your prompts. In addition to the tutorial mentioned above, there are other tools available to help you get started:

  • LangChain Components. LangChain components for Dartmouth-hosted models.

  • LangChain Cookbook. This is a collection of examples and tutorials of how to use the langchain_dartmouth library to build applications on AI models deployed in the Dartmouth Cloud.
